Suspect jailed in serious-injury El Cajon hit-run
Exterior of El Cajon Police Department headquarters File photo courtesy of the department A Lakeside man was behind bars Friday on suspicion of fleeing after the SUV he was driving struck a -year-old pedestrian in El Cajon leaving the youth severely injured Dani A Korkis allegedly was driving a white BMW X that hit the boy in the block of Ballantyne Street at about p m Wednesday according to the El Cajon Police Department Exigency personnel arrived to find the victim lying in the roadway with extensive head injuries and the involved conveyance gone with debris from it scattered in the street ECPD Lt Joe Crawford declared Paramedics took the child to a hospital where he was admitted in critical condition He remained hospitalized with stable vital signs Friday Crawford reported An automated license-plate reader and other databases identified the involved automobile and detectives discovered it parked at a Lakeside business damaged in a manner consistent with the accident according to police They then located and arrested the suspect Korkis was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of felony- hit-and run causing great bodily injury He was being held on bail pending arraignment scheduled for Tuesday afternoon City News System
