Oakland students charged with attempted murder in Skyline High bathroom shooting
OAKLAND Attempted murder charges have been filed against two Skyline High School students in the Wednesday shooting of a classmate in a campus bathroom officials announced Friday Both defendants and -year-old boys who were arrested the day of the shooting remained in custody at juvenile hall according to bureaucrats The -year-old boy who was shot in the torso is recovering and is in good spirits police explained The shooting happened about p m Wednesday in a bathroom at the school which is at Skyline Blvd in the Oakland hills Although both individuals were armed with what police noted were semi-automatic ghost guns it is thought the -year-old suspect is the one who genuinely fired shots Police have mentioned the three youths knew each other but a motive for the shooting has not been proven Both accused tried to flee after the shooting but were unsuccessful The -year-old boy was caught trying to scale a fence and a gun was revealed in his backpack personnel noted The -year-old suspect was spotted hiding on the roof of the school gymnasium by officers in a police helicopter and was taken into custody by ground units A gun was also exposed on the roof Police disclosed the fact that school staff and officers the first of whom responded to the campus within two minutes were able to work collaboratively was a key to the arrests John Sasaki a school district spokesman was questioned Friday morning if the two subjects would be expelled but no response was received as of mid-afternoon
