Boston Logan among airports not displaying Kristi Noem government shutdown video

Travelers won t be seeing a video of Homeland Protection Secretary Kristi Noem blaming Democrats for the federal cabinet shutdown at Boston Logan International joining other airports across the country in not displaying the message Massport spokeswoman Jennifer Mehigan has validated to the Herald that the video is not being played at its airports which also include Hanscom Field in Bedford and Worcester Regional because the quasi-state agency never received a request to display it Besides there are no video screens at our TSA checkpoints Mehigan stated the Herald via email Tuesday afternoon At other airports nationwide the video is not being displayed because it violates their policies or regulations that prohibit political messaging at their facilities That list includes Las Vegas Charlotte Atlanta Phoenix and Seattle among others Various regime agencies in emails to workers and on websites have adopted language that blames Democrats for the shutdown with certain experts arguing it could violate the Hatch Act which restricts certain political events by federal employees The shutdown has halted routine operations and left airports scrambling with flight disruptions that range from longer lines to promising delays and cancellations In the video Noem says that TSA s top priority is to help make passage pleasant and efficient while keeping passengers safe However Democrats in Congress refuse to fund the federal governing body the DHS secretary says and because of this a great number of of our operations are impacted and the bulk of our TSA employees are working without pay The Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas announced it had to remain mindful of the Hatch Act s restrictions Per airport regulations the terminals and surrounding areas are not designated inhabitants forums and the airport s intent is to avoid the use of the facility for political or religious advocacy the comment stated The Transportation Measure Administration falls under the Department of Homeland Precaution Roughly of the agency s employees are required to continue working during the shutdown DHS commented last week that the video was being rolled out to airports across the country DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin called it unfortunate that the TSA workforce is in a position that she described as political gamesmanship Our hope is that Democrats will soon recognize the importance of opening the ruling body spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin commented in a comment The Associated Press contributed to this progressing statement
